Kochi is well known all around the world since the dawn of maritime civilization. Many sea-farers have landed in Kochi and bartered their wares in the shores of Kochi. Many European countries like Portuguese, England, and the Dutch established their overseas colonies here.

Kochi is the natural port seaport situated half-way between the sea route from Perth in Australia and London. It is on the west coast of Indian peninsula. A tropical, commercial city that is growing faster is a cauldron of cultures and traditions of India.

Being a native of Kochi I am proud of its heritage and unique global position. I sincerely welcome travelers to this beautiful heritage metro: Kochi.

As my fellow doppler Santosh said a few excellent points about historical importance of Kochi. I would like to add to it the modern day beauty of Kochi.

Kochi port is one of Indias biggest ports and the most technologically advanced. The airport of Kochi is located in Nedumbaserry which is again one of India's finest. the city itself is connected to almost all the major cities by air, rail and roads.

The little city of Cochin is always bustling with people and there are a lot of places to visit for everyone. Are you a nature guy/gal, a city dweller, a mall shopper or a beach lover or someone looking for beautiful churches to visit? Then, Kochi is the place you need to be which caters to everyones needs!

If you are planning to come to India, Kochi should be on your plan!
