SUDIPTO BOSE replied over 4 years agoits a city known to world for obvious bad reasons and quite justified at that..but do visit calcutta with an open mind without prejudice for you know well what to expect..chaotic choking city traffic, appaling scenes on street, sweltering oppressive heat for nearly 10 months in an year,well,.. nightmarish for too many other reasons too.but do not miss the good things, few as they are..the local sweets and flavoured curds, lip smaking spicy bengali cuisine, some fine luxury hotels..where you would find some serenity among the cacophony outside, ans some good shopping opportunity in local malls.do not forget to negotiate fares with fleecing cab drivers in advance.

Arpan Dastidar replied over 3 years agoThe Victoria Memorial Hall was opened in 1921. It is also a museum where people could see before them pictures and statues of men who played a prominent part in the history of India and develop a pride in their past especially in relation to the history of Calcutta . Lord Curzon conceived it. Presently it is the finest and most prominent building and art museum of Calcutta, India, under the Department of Culture, Government of India.
