Frankly the Taj Residency is a little too nice. It's like an oasis in the middle of Bangalore, which can otherwise be a little overwhelming to Western visitors. It has extremely comfortable rooms, a first-rate spa, a few restaurants and an English book-shop. The food is good, the stay is good. The showers are amazing. But it does cost a fair amount in comparison with other Bangalore hotels.

The Ranga Shankara Café, on the ground floor of the theatre of the same name, serves an eclectic selection of local and international cuisine (but not other Indian). This is the place to go if you're in the neighbourhood of JP Nagar in South Bangalore and want good food in a relaxed atmosphere -- as long as you don't mind flat slate benches. There's also a bookstore across the floor.

Very good place if you want to eat yummy spicy chettinad food. Chettinad food is famous for its special spicy gravy well served as Veg and Non-Veg food.

Usually crowded but waiting for this place is its worth. Yet affordable, for 2 persons bill can anywhere between 250-300.

Nice ambience, rooftop. Breezy. Nice small dancefloor. Music from late 50s and early 60s. Karaoke. Very good service. Acceptable menu. Nice place to get together with friends to drink, eat, talk. Far from the madding crowd and the usual ritzy crap.
