If you happened to stay in Ahmedabad over a Sunday, it would be interesting to visit Sunday market below Ellis Bridge. The market would start around 8o'clock in the morning and might close late afternoon or evening. It would be good to go around 10 o'clock. One can get to see a variety of goods sold here from used stuff, books... to antiques. An interesting place for those who wish to visit and experience Indian bazaar or street markets, also people.
Though no suspicious activity is expected, it would be better to go along with a fellow Indian or localite.

The traditional market in front of Teen Darwaja (3Door-gateway) within the walled city of Ahmedabad is another interesting point for explorers of street/bazaar/culture.
Evening is the right time to visit this market place about 5o'clock. (The market will be open and active also during the day) The streets are crowded with hawkers, make-shift shops, vehicles parked, cows and people busy walking, bargaining and strolling around.
One can find a variety of goods here including all house-hold goods, and the market is famous for antiques, furniture,... etc. Also traditional vendors of clothes, handicrafts, jewelery...
Directions to go: Hire an auto-rickshaw to "teen darwaza" the street that goes through the gateway is one-way. Usually, the auto-rickshaw stops before the gateway and you can explore the area by foot.

Adel Anwar replied over 3 years agoThere are a couple of historical sites around Ahmedabad, not very far from the city. Sarkej Roza [www.sarkhejroza.org] has a unique Indo Saracenic architecture that is worth a trip. Adalaj is a step well that is intricately carved and is several stories in depth. This is a famous spot for tourists.
