    Nice Bar

Villa Sokolov is a very nice bar in Tel Aviv. Is on the corner of Kaplan and Ibn Gvirol. The place is inside a building, but you will probably see the host and guard on the outside

A friendly Mexican Bar in Tel-Aviv?

If you're in the mood for great nachos, in a small, cosy and friendly envrionment, go to Mezcal in Florentine. It is woned by Ester and Ziv, a very nice couple.

Great lunch place in the heart of Jaffa's Flee market

Couldn't translate the name, but it's got a great selection of entrées. Worth ordering a few and dip in with some bread, as a light lunch.

Doris Butcher - great meat (restaurant)

There's some great meat to be eaten at Doris Butcher. It's both a butcher as well as a restaurant where you can eat all sorts of meat from a lovely T-Bone to a 800 gram Porterhouse. Excellent service and good knowledge of wines.

Café Bar - great fusion food

Relaxed, nice atmosphere, great food. With an outside area and a nice inside space as well. Worth a visit. Good service as well.

The name doesn't really do the place any justice--it's a bistro / restaurant and not just a bar.

NG - the best meat in town

Hidden away in a corner of Neve Tzedek, the oldest part of Tel Aviv, you can find NG, a place where meat is what you will find on your plate, at least if you let the chef do what he likes best that is.

The service is informal, but knowledgeable and very friendly.

I had the entrecote which was very good. The wines are also excellent, although I can't remember what I drank.

Moses - the best burgers in town

I didn't believe it at first, when a friend of mine said you could get better burgers in Tel Aviv than anywhere in the US. Well, Tel Aviv definitely is a burger town.

One of the most famous and really good places to get a great burger is Moses.

Great restaurant and very good value that so far never disappointed. Casual dining at the bar also highly recommended.

This is the most happening place at the moment in Tel Aviv (December 2009). Good reviews and fun crowd. Try to squeeze in if you manage.

Chef Benny Lifshitz and a skeleton crew decide what they're going to cook daily, once they see what's in the kitchen's intake and what's in the market. This restaurant wrapped around a bar is owned by controversial avant-garde chef Eyal Shani. Chances are you've never had vegetables prepared and presented this way. A whole head of purple cabbage, braised for five hours with lamb bones and stock, develops a deeply caramelized exterior and a completely tender, fall-apart interior. Grab a coveted seat at the round bar to witness the theater of the open kitchen. Dinner for two could be $60, without wine. (From the Washington Post)

The most famous of the cafe/restaurants on Sheinkin Street, Orna and Ella offers a homey sense of intimacy and perhaps reminds yuppies from North Tel Aviv of their grandparents' British Mandate-era apartments. It's got great pastries, brioche, and espresso, but there is also a short menu of choice sandwiches, salads, pastas, and the signature sweet-potato pancakes and goose breast hamburger. The lines are often out the door, and not just because customers tend to linger over conversation -- the cafe would not be so successful without food that's a cut above the rest. The waiters are young and very Israeli. (From the NY TImes)

Was really good when the chef Hadasa Wolf was there. After she left we've been there twice and wanted to leave mid-way into our meal. Not recommended.
