Art Hotel is a good business hotel.

Simply get out the bus somewhere in the city and talk to the people that are waiting for you there :) I found out a lot of the 'private homes' that are offered by civilians or often better than the hotels. Plus you get a nice image about the culture. The people there are very hospitable, especially when you show an interest obviously :) enjoy your trip! :D

Hotel Park is quite ok and next to the famous beach Bačvice. Hotel BelleVue, Hotel Consul,... Hilton is coming soon. Hotel Lav little bit outside of Split. Private accommodation is also option, you can arrange it via Tourist Office Split. There you can also buy Split Card that gives you free and discounted entrance to some galleries and museums, and many more interesting things. The price of this card is 5€ if you stay less then 3 days and if you stay longer then is Split card free. Ask in Tourist office or in the hotel.
