clarke thomas replied over 3 years agoMy flights usually arrive at night, so my first night is generally eaten in the hotel. Though if I arrive earlier, I'll find a local place for some congee with fish.

mia bennett replied over 3 years agoAfter a long flights the easiest option is to just eat in the hotel... but if you are up for a quick bite pick one of the following:
If staying in Kawloon, TST centre, a good few bars and restaurants. mostly western food and reasonably priced.

mia bennett replied over 3 years agoAnother safe option could be the night markets for street food since they are open till late and provide simple food with a speedy service.

Richard Moross replied over 3 years agoRoom service is a good bet, if you feel like you want to immerse yourself in several Asian flavours all at once try Cafe TOO at the Island Shangri La Hotel, they have a huge buffet that incorporates Thai, Malaysian and Japanese as well as Chinese.
I, however, would skip dinner altogether and opt for Dim Sum at Maxims City Hall the next morning.

An enormous space, overlooking the harbour, is filled with fantastic trolley service dim sum. Be prepared to queue though, it gets super-busy on weekends, a 1hr wait is the norm.

Richard Moross replied over 3 years agoScrap my last answer, head for Tsim Chai Kee and have a cheap but delicious bowl of noodles.

Bill Reid replied over 2 years agoI can not believe you guys, eat in a hotel in Hong Kong? No way, first night or not!!!! Only a complete tourist would eat in a hotel in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong has more food options than people. Unless your hotel is in a very bad location, all you have to do is step outside and take your pick at some of the best food in the world and priced right. The street vendor response is the right one for a first night.

clarke thomas replied over 2 years agoBill, I usually get to my hotel at 11pm after a 21 hour flight, & I'm usually in ShaTin. So my primary concern is sleep; plus there's not many options in the NT.....if I got in earlier, I'd be at Tai Po market having some razor clams & tsing tao
