Vickers is an excellent traditional butcher and game dealer two minutes from the County deli, in West Street.

There's a good farmers market on the first and third Saturday of every month in the Cattle Market in Gt. Knollys Street. Not sure if you can still buy cattle there on other days.

One of the most comforting John Lewis stores in the country (the envy of our neighbours in Oxford - apparently).

Woodley has a farmer's market once a month (search it on the Wokingham Council site) and a Waitrose for the other essentials.

There is an organic market 4 times a week run by the True Foods Co-op which has organic fruit and veges as well as pasta, rice, grains and other groceries. They are very friendly. There is one at Earley on Friday nights and another at Newtown on Thursday nights. I think they might be in the town centre on a Saturday but you might have to check.
