I think brand new Ethos is the freshest hotel in town - a small, privately run place with beautifully decorated, eco-friendly rooms and a mere 2 minutes walk from the river or 15 minutes from High Street. http://www.ethoshotels.co.uk/

The Old Bank hotel, on the High St, 1 min from Radcliffe Camera, is trendy and good. Small (authentically so!) rooms. Good bar/restaurant called Quod. Parking too - a rarity for the city centre.
