city inn is good, and sometimes has good deals, e.g. £64/night advance purchase including breakfast, and wifi is always included.

Also good is Premier Apartments Manchester, near the Arndale, Prices are usually £70+ depending on events, and how far in advance you book, but it's an 'apartment hotel' with kitchen and washer/dryer

It's highly possible that you've stayed in a hotel with better service, (the young staff was scaringly novice when I visited). It's highly possible that you stayed in a rooms that was better designed. But I doubt that there are any better bargains if you'd like to stay in Manchester. Prices are often slashed and if you're in for such a bargain, you will feel OK, even if you've paying the bill with your own money. Images and more here: http://www.guidebook.se/?p=96

A Victorian villa in one of the more well-off suburbs of Manchester. It comes with some atmosphere, but if you expect a more buzzing nightlife than the local pub, you'd better stay somewhere else. The free standing bathtub was quite alright. A review plus images of the bathtub can be found right here: http://www.guidebook.se/?p=286

I've been working in Manchester for a few months and this is the only place that I come back to time and again to stay. Friendly staff, close to both train (Piccadilly) and bus (Piccadilly Gardens) stations, comfortable loft-style apartments. Definitely recommend it.

If you're on a budget, it's worth trying Crashpadder.com. They've got rooms for as little as £10.
