Perhaps Clerkenwell rd is not the most obvious place for an hotel, but this is a stylish, well-run boutique, that is a perfect oasis. Great service and lovely touches: like pink fluffy hot water bottles. Marvelous views from the penthouse suite too!

No reservations, and you'll definitely have to queue on a Friday/Saturday night, sometimes out the door. But that's because it does excellent vegetarian food for a reasonable price. Recommended.

If there is one place to relax in London its Tate Modern's Rothko Room. One room dedicated to the late great Polish born New Yorker. The massive paintings are meditative and with specially dimmed lighting you will see movement slowed and chatting cut off. Magical!!!

    Nice cakes, salads and breakfasts.

    Not nice service. Snooty, unhelpful.

Me: 'What type of coffee do you have'

    'Waitress': 'Any'

Me: 'I'll have a skinny latte please'

Waitress: 'We don't have skimmed milk'

    Thanks.

I'm running way behing with my restaurant reviews and Cook Sister has already posted a very good review, so I'll simply link there: Cook sister!: Comptoir Gascon

I don't have much to add, apart that it's a very good address, a bit tough to get a table (book in advance) and another good reason to go to Smithfields.

You have to love The Pepper Tree. Fast, fresh and friendly and GREAT value. You can't book, so at busy times you have to stand in line but it is definitely worth it. This is the Thai restaurant that reminds me most of eating Thai in Sydney - SOOOOO good, and cheap too. It's not the place for a long intimate dinner for two, as the seating is at long benches, but for quality and value (two people eating, a couple of beers, change from £20) you cannot beat it.

Perfect comfort food. Good for groups (with or without hangovers). A good tip is to phone ahead and check the days they do 'Burnt Ends' which are the best things on the menu but only available on certain days...

I went when they had a deal on - £15 or something.

They wouldn't stop bringing food. Honestly, we were stuffed by the time we'd finished the starters, and they brought dish after dish. Finally when they brought some fruit for dessert, it was a huge entire fruit bowl. Oh then they brought some more dessert...

Fabulous place with great food, but be warned - wear stretch pants!

Bowling at All Star lanes provides enjoyable and affordable entertainment for all ages. Whether you are sourcing a venue for a birthday treat, organising a team building event or just looking to have some fun, All Stars makes for a great night out.

The retro décor is effortlessly cool and the staff are extremely welcoming and attentive. There is always a vibrant atmosphere and there are lanes available for private bookings.

Dining at All Stars is all part of the experience. The cream sodas and mini vanilla cheesecakes are a dream and there is a good selection of savoury finger food, burgers and quality wines and beers available. I highly recommend this place for a great night out!

    Hi,

I went to the botanist this weekend (18th of April 2009). It was good fun over there.

Good atmosphere.Don't go there if you are looking for high quality food rather to have a taste of what London offer as a truly vibrant multicultural city with fancy entertainment.

    Cheers.

    Hi,

I went there this Sunday (19th of April 2009).

As a Chinese, I'm quite difficult concerning chinese food especially Dim Sum. I was going there after one of my friend has recommended it. I ordered the usual dim sum, ha kao, fan ko, Buns.

How can I say that? It was a blast.

One of my best experience so far for Dim Sum in Europe.

    Highly recommended.

Soho House is a classic (and very good) English private club. 4 Floors of different rooms, classic English food and drink, and a very comfortable atmosphere. Met Stefan Glaenzer and the Last.fm founders here on my first visit; Marko Ahtisaari on my second visit. Great meeting place.

Wahaca is probably one of the best Mexican-style restaurants in London and it is pretty tasty. Having said that, it's really not enormously authentic or anywhere near as good as the Mexican food you can get on the West Coast of the US or in, I guess, Mexico. However, if you're looking for interesting Wagamama style snacks in London with a Mexican twist, then this is great.

If you want an immaculate, clean and well-designed hotel, with attentive staff and at a good price, you cannot do much better than High Road House.

The wifi worked, the Cowshed toiletries were plentiful, the linen and quality of the room excellent, and the only slight downside was that the rooms were not brilliantly insulated from noise in the corridor. (It is a small hotel with only 14 rooms).

The brasserie and upstairs members area is also beautifully decorated and with great service. Highly recommended.
