Ben Dalton replied over 4 years agoThe Yorkshire Sculpture Park is great. It's got walking, coffee, galleries, a small grass cutting robot, sculpture all over the place and it's free.
Getting there without a car is a bit slow. I think various buses go from the centre of Leeds, maybe the 444, it should take about an hour to get there.

Matt Edgar replied over 4 years agoIf like Germaine Greer you find Bretton Hall too far off the beaten track (http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/artblog/2007/dec/17/hiddenheritage), there's also world class sculpture indoors and slap bang in the City Centre at the Henry Moore Institute. http://www.henry-moore-fdn.co.uk/matrix_engine/content.php?page_id=33

Alex Prichard replied over 4 years agoTropical World in Roundhay (buses from the city centre - only about 15 minutes - catch a 2 or a 12 from New Briggate) is a fun and cheap way to spend an hour or so. Kids will love it and it's opposite Roundhay Park and the Roundhay Fox (a pub).
