The Deep, a large, modern aquarium, is excellent. The other museums in the nearby Museum Quarter (William Wilberforce's house, the Transport Museum and Hull & East Riding Museum) are all reasonably good. The Hull & East Riding Museum gives a history of the area starting, wierdly, right at the beginning - with the big bang.

A day trip to the North York Moors, York or Beverley is probably the second best thing to do after The Deep, though.
