Edinburgh is an excellent city to walk every bit of it. Princess Street, certainly a must. For the most amazing views of the city walk to Calton Hill, Holyrood Park, High Street, Castle Lawnmarket among others. It's very hilly.

A wonderful and beautiful bookshop, focused on design and related things. Run by the absolutely lovely Russell and Julie, who will make your visit a pleasant one. Regular exhibitions in their tiny gallery space, a healthy magazine and T-shirt selection, and guaranteed good chat.

James Bridle replied over 3 years agoClimb Calton Hill
One of the country's best views is the city from Calton Hill. Climb it before breakfast for the full majesty of a Scottish sunrise.

I went to see the web conference The Highland Fling in the heart of Edinburgh and it was absolutely smashing good. It's a day of a high quality dosage of the coolest developers talking about the web industry and its future. Highly recommendable if you can make it there and you are on web dev and web design stuff.

Lincoln Rozelle replied over 3 years agoBaked Potatoes on Cockburn Street
Just off the Royal Mile is Cockburn Street. Its a beautiful street with lot's of unique shops. Some are fairly sleazy but the others make up for it. 'Beyond Words' is a shop selling photography books and is worth a look.
The best place however is a vegetarian baked potato shop. The potatoes are massive and the filling incredible. Sadly there's no bacon or any other meat but there still amazing. It's pretty cheap too.
If you're over for the festival or just need a decent cheap meal (in a hurry) it's a very filling and healthy place to go.

Jishnu Menon replied over 2 years agoDefinitely take a walk - check out Dean, a charming little village within Edinburgh. Take a walk by the waterway that runs through it and meet loads of nice people and their wee dogs.

Emily O'Byrne replied about 1 year agoAlright, its only a shop. But its a hat shop that sells actual hats you can wear every day not just at weddings. Loads of them. At really very reasonable prices. For us Londoners where the choice is John Lewis wedding hats or extortionate prices at Locke & Co, this is truly wonderful. Hat fans, fill your hatboxes!
