The Goods Shed, by the West Station, is a farmer's market and restaurant in an old victorian, uh, goods shed. The food is excellent: locally sourced produce, unfussy but delicious. They only cook with produce from the farmers' market - it's certainly the best food I've had in Canterbury (my hometown).
It got an excellent write up in the Observer, from Jay Rayner http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2005/feb/27/foodanddrink.restaurants
Also, they have a very old steam engine.
