I like to stay at the felix since I live in cambridge and spend my time in hotels elsewhere...

if you want semi-budget then the travellodge in cambridge is pretty funky but in a shopping mall type place and not exactly great unless you came to cambridge to see a film... although it is central Travelodge Cambridge Central, Cambridge Leisure Park, Cambridge, CB1, 0871 984 6101‎ http://www.travelodge.co.uk

YHA Cambridge is conveniently located near to the train station. The property is tired and shabby in places but it is generally adequate and if you want cheap this is it ! (just be prepared for bunks and shared toilets...)
