Indigo Cafe in St Edward's Passage is an independently-run cafe that does great bagels and sandwiches. It's small, so often busy, but friendly and delightful and one of my favourite places.

Tatties makes great baked potatoes and other warm food, and is quite cheap. There are two different cafes in the city, one at 11 Sussex Street and the other at 15 Trinity Street.

For sandwiches, Peppercorns (which has branches around town, but I always used to frequent Rose Crescent - between Market Square and Caius) does some pretty good ones at reasonable prices.

Cafe Indigo, St Edward's Passage - off King's Parade. Great bagels, best coffee in Cambridge and an indie cafe with atmosphere.

Annabelle's on Hills Road is absolutely fantastic for sandwiches, soups etc. Nice, friendly staff too.

Nanna Mexico on the main road (regent street) has a really well priced Mexican menu). There is a cafe down penbrook street that does an amazing soup and door-stop lunch for about £2.50.
