Paul Dillon replied over 4 years agothere are so many local markets, each with their own personalities. The Sunday market at Bastille is huge and if you only have time to see one market while visiting Paris, it would be hard to suggest one better. But in many ways, you can't go wrong with any of Paris' neighbourhood markets either!

Jason Keller replied over 4 years agoThe Marché d'Aligre is by far the best and most inexpensive open-air market in Paris. It's open daily except Mondays from before sunrise until lunchtime. The choice in amazing. I always try to get there early to avoid the crowds or tourists taking pictures of the fruit & veggie stands around noon. The coffee shop (Café Aouba) at the end of rue d'Aligre near the corner of rue Crozatier has incredible coffee for a cup there or ground to take home.

Ron Fox replied over 4 years agoTry the Marche de Grenelle (Sunday) or Edgar Quinet (Wednesday or Saturday) Fabulous oysters weekends in the winter.

Hanae Chino replied over 4 years agoMarché Mouffetard on Sunday morning is really typical (slightly chic/bobo perhaps sometimes) - but you need to do it once (fruits, vegetables essentially). Then you can have a coffee or a quick meal down the market in front of the church.

tobias rooney replied over 3 years agoLived there for 6 years, the best vegetables (amazing tomatoes in the summer, over 15 varieties), and all locally grown are at the marche on Ave President Wilson, Wednesdays and Saturday mornings.
Otherwise there is a partially covered market, le marche des enfants rouges in the 3rd, where you can eat, its small but as al markets, good quality, and a great stop off point if in the area
