Brioche D'Or. It's a chain of bakeries with special menus of sandwiches, salads, and hot casseroles. Each menu also comes with a tasty pastry, a cold drink, and a hot beverage when you're finished.

Excluding fast food: Look for smaller brasserie/restaurants, where you can typically get a plat du jour for €8 or €9. Some of my favourite cheapish eateries: Café Frankfurt, Place Rouget de l'Isle, La Bérangére, rue de la Bérangére, le Carré Saone, rue de la Quarantaine (not the cheapest! But beautiful meat).

Chez Mounier (3 rue des marronniers 69002 Lyon) is a great restaurant when on a budget and still want to try Lyon's gastronomy. They have a 3 course menu for lunch at 10€ that is very good value. Do not forget to reserve tho (+33 4 78 37 79 26)
