Tampere is way behind Helsinki in terms of good restaurants but here are some: - Hella & Huone (www.huone.info) is a small nice restaurant close to Tampere Hall - reservation required. - Henrik's (www.henriks.fi) is another nice small restaurant which offers local food. - And Näsinneula is a classic in Tampere

Plevna was great and has some good homebrewed beers

Cozy atmosphere, friendly service and food is impressive, fine dining in good format, make a reservation, the restaurant is quite small.

O'Connell's Irish bar is probably the best Irish bar in Finland, with seriously good pub grub with an Irish twist (without overdoing it), and a great selection of beers on tap.

A nice place to chill out if you've been out and about in the city. Nice relaxing atmosphere.

Good restaurant if you are looking for meat dishes, especially grilled. Their famous starter salad buffet is included in the price of main courses. Make sure you try it out.

Jack the Rooster has a really nice terrace by the river. Decent pub food (steaks, burgers etc.), but stay away from the Death Burger.

Really good food. Try the tapas bar as a starter and then go for the traditional fillet - 30 years of experience and it tastes.
