L'Éscale is one of the better restaurants in the Finnish Archipelago. Located in the Nauvo Marina you get decent, if slightly overpriced food. If the chef is in a good mood you might be in for a gourmet surprise. During it's 20 years of existence most great Finnish chefs have been doing their internships here during the summers. Try any of the local fishes, whitefish, zander, perch or flafish, they are all great. With the fish you must also try the local Nauvo-Schnaps. Next door is the local sprits- & liquor destillery, run by the owner of the restaurant. All of it's products can be sampled at the restaurant. Despite it's location L'Escale is open year round. You will easily get there by car or by bus from Turku in less than an hour. Prepare for one ferry ride.

Seili (swe: Själö, Sjählö eng. the Soul Island), an island north of Nauvo in the Turku Archipelago that used to be a leper colony between 1620 and the late 18th century. After that if was an mental asylum until 1963. The Island has a fantastic timber church built in 1733 (one of the kind that the Italians according to mr. Berlusconi would have torn down years ago). The Church has a special compartment for the ill and insane. Mass is held 2-4 times per summer. The asylum buildings from the 19th century are still intact. Check it out at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Själö. Can get there with a ferry from the Nauvo harbor or from Rymättylä south of Turku. Check with turist offices in Turku or in the Nauvo marina.
