Lahti, Finland + Add a trip

In the winter time, the Messilä skiing resort is a great place to spend some time downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and sleigh riding. Also, there are good cultural events - concerts in the beutiful Sibelius Hall by the lake Vesijärvi and plays and musicals in the Lahti theater.

There is a new cinema center in Lahti (Finnkino building on Vapaudenkatu) if you want to catch a movie. In the same building, there are some restaurants and a new night club (Ilon talo, Vapaudenkatu 13). 'Teerenpeli' pub is an excellent place to go for a drink. Nearby, there is a bar & nightclub called Jackalope on Vesijärvenkatu, which might be worth the visit.

Restaurants: Kasseli (next to Sibelius Hall), Roux ,and Rata (both on Rautatienkatu) are great restaurants for dining in Lahti and Mamma Maria is a relaxed italian place located by the market square.
