If you don't have a boat to stay in and haven't been invited to a friend's villa, try one of the B&Bs. Villa Maija is well run and tidy old wooden house, typical of Hanko. Nice location, good breakfast and coffee bar. Villa Doris is good, too.

Villa Ilmatar on Huvilatie 8 has a great one bedroom outbuilding just next to the main villa. Downstairs you have a toilet, double shower wetroom plus a sauna with excellent heat (allow approx 1.5 hours for the wood heated sauna to get warm enough). Upstairs you have a sitting come bed room with an open fire (the two "sofas" are also single beds that can be moved around to become one double or two single beds). Behind the open fire there is a free standing bath. No kitchen or fridge in the room but coffee and tea is provided. No breakfast. The place is very nicely done with small details everywhere. Alltough not a big place it feels very comfy, and is perfect even for a rainy day when you can choose to read one of the numerous books that can be found on the shelf. Price wise it is reasonable (100 euro per night) as some villas over charge for being a bit closer to the beach but with much worse quality. I would personally highly recommend Villa Ilmatar.

Restaurant Makasiini is one of restaurant along a short stretch of the so called "makasiini" restaurants in Hanko. Located in one of the old wooden warehouses, also this restaurant has a front- and a back terrace with the restaurant upstairs and bar downstairs. The restaurant serves excellent fish and meat dishes, the interior is very rustic and service is almost always good. The downstairs bar gets lively in the evenings with live music.
