Sam Aparicio replied over 4 years agoIf you can afford it, the Westin Palace hotel is hard to beat. An old old classic grand hotel in the center of town, it was selected as one of the top hotels around the world for business travelers by Forbes -- http://www.forbes.com/travel/2008/11/17/hotels-travel-best-forbeslife-cx_pl_1117travel.html

Alejandro Corcoles replied over 4 years agoI have stayed in the NH Príncipe de Vergara, which is not extremely well communicated (but still, nearby to a Metro station so you can get to the city center fairly quickly), but is a safe bet; quite cheap despite being in Madrid.

Sarah Kendrew replied over 4 years agoThe NH Zurbano on the Calle Zurbano, 79-81 (metro: Gregorio Maranon) is quite nice, and very conveniently located for the minsteries and government research centres (CSIC). It's abut 1 km from metro Nuevos Ministerios, which is on a direct line to Barajas airport. About 2 km from Puerta del SolGood deals are available online if you book ahead (65-80 euro per night, room only) and prepay. It's very clean, quiet and friendly.
Don't bother paying for breakfast, there are plenty of cafes nearby for a coffee and pastry.

Centrally located in the old town, tapas tours, flamenco evenings, bar, wifi, set in an 18th Moorish Palace - dorm rooms and private rooms.
