Cafe Dindurra, next to Teatro Jovellanos, offers free wifi. It's WPA protected, but the key is usually printed out/written on paper and taped to the walls, so no need to ask.

The cafe might be slightly more expensive than others nearby, but is completely no smoking, unsual in Spain and a haven for me!

The wifi is fast too, I got about 2mb/s on a few downloads while sipping tinto and munching pinchos.

There are lots of cafés and restaurants that offer free wifi, but the Town Council is also working to create a net all around Gijón. Anyway, there are several public libraries in the city where you can have acces to the Internet.
