    Al Azhar Park

Cairo is not a very beautiful city. There are lots of sites to see (Pyramids, Egyptian museum, the Nile), but other than that the cit on its own doesn't offer you a nice experience. That's different for Al Azhar Park. Especially at night time, you get a very nice view over the old city and the Mohammed Ali mosque. There is a restaurant on the top of the hill that has great food. It's a very serene, friendly place, compared to the rest of Cairo.

If you're in Cairo, this is a definite must-go as far as I'm concerned.

I prefer to stay at the Mena House Oberoi. Amazing place, amazing history and within spitting distance of the pyramids.

A very interesting small and nice hotel in the center of a busy shopping district. Not easy to find, best is to go towards the synagogue on the long and busy Talaat harb rd, then look out for the building with the adidas store in it (in 2009). it's on a corner and the entrance is in the alley. Extremely helpful service, arranging excellent guided personal tours, nice and calm atmosphere. It is quite expensive, but generally hotels in Cairo tend to be. Safe neighbourhood, perfect to take a stroll down to the Nile at night through the bustling streets with lots of cafes and restaurants nearby.

Hotel has a great atmosphere. The open buffet on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays is great.

Location is different than what is shown here on Google Maps. It is right on the Nile.

A luxury hotel that enjoys the best location in Cairo right on the tip of the island still in the heart of the city. All rooms have an unobstructed Nile view. Variety of restaurants is great too. Kebabgy for Oriental, Le Palmeraie for Moroccan, Buddha Bar for Sushi, Vendome for French. A must visit!
