Go to Otavalo, north of Quito for the famous indigenous market - after the market, go to Cotacachi, a small town where you can buy great leather bags, jackets etc. Finish with lunch at La Mirage, the only Relais & Chateaux hotel in Ecuador, a bit pricey but has a great spa and restaurant and the only place I will recommend any one to try Cuy - ginneypig in Ecuador! Another great option is to go to Hacienda Cusin and spend the night here, its a beautiful restored hacienda from 1600, the owner graduated from Fawlty Towers hotel management school, so you are in for quite an experience!
