There are various nice and cheap places to eat in Dresden. If you're in the new town ("Neustadt") you should check out the Bagelei at Bischofsplatz 4 http://www.bagelei.de/

Further there are various "soup bars" namely Hot Spoon (www.hotspoon.de) and the Suppenbar (www.suppenbar-dresden.de). Both have weekly altering menus and reasonable prices.
