Kyle Hepp replied over 3 years agoBy far, Caramano (that n should have the tilde over it) in Bellavista. It's delicious Chilean food for very cheap prizes. The restaurant has one numerous awards for their great cuisine. Located on Purisima 257.

Emily replied over 3 years agoThe absolute cheapest option is to eat in the comedores in La Vega, the main market of Santiago. For under CHP2.000 you'll get a main dish with "agregado" - usually rice and salad. This option is best left to the more intrepid traveler, since you'll be going into a crowded area that's not on the shiny, pretty tourist path (read: don't bring your most expensive camera, jewelry, etc), but it's a decent lunch at a great price, and you can wander around La Vega, where many Santiaguinos as well as hotels and restaurants get their produce. To find the comedores, enter La Vega on Antonio Lopez de Bello in the Recoleta neighborhood. Enter toward the left as you look at it (west), then walk straight back to the tables.
