The local farmer's market take place in Place des Halles, near the lake at the bottom of the Castle Hill, every Tuesday and Saturday mornings.

Neuchatel is not the best place fror shopping: however plenty of clothing, home accessories, specialty food shops are in the old town and pedestrian areas. Mall-like shoping experience can be found in "la Maladiere centre", 5 minutes car or bus from downtown http://maladierecentre.ch/ or in Marin centre:(15 minutes by car towards Biel/Bern) http://www.marincentre.ch
