  One of the greatest things about Lausanne is the great variety of activities, museums, and outdoor space, thus making it appealing to people of many age groups. Families would probably enjoy ice cream in Ouchy along Lac Léman (known as Lake Geneva everywhere else, but do not call it that here!) followed by a trip to the nearby Olympic Museum. A trip into the heart of town, with its winding and steep roads, is always in order too. The views from the Cathedral, which towers high above the city, are stunning. On a clear day, one can see across the lake to Evian-les-Bains and the French Alps.

  For those who enjoy the nightlife, Lausanne is home to an unusually high proportion of pubs, bars,and nightclubs due to the presence of two universities. Try the Great Escape for a super (and fairly cheap, for Swiss standards) burger with happy hour from 22h-22h30 every night. Le Bourg is great for hipster watching.
