Where's good to eat in Vancouver?

Scott Young replied over 2 years agoThis place is one of two (the other is Rodney's Oyster House) that I recommend to out-of-town visitors looking for oysters in Vancouver. If you time it with the season, you can get some great big monsters out of Tofino. Delicious.
If you're looking for a cheap lunch, Joe Fortes' has a Blue Plate Special every weekday for $10. Pretty good value for the quality.
Its more traditional than many of the funkier places on Robson, but worth a visit for quality food.
What's the best place for lunch on a budget?

Scott Young replied over 2 years agoDepends on your budget. I worked in downtown, so I'll stick to those locations...
Joe Fortes does a Blue Plate Special at lunchtime for $10. Vancouver Art Gallery Cafe is great - excellent balcony in the summer. Brioche in Gastown is nice too for lunch. Snow Garden is a sit-down Chinese restaurant (469 Richards), but they have cheap (less than $5) quality takeout, with a daily-changing menu. If you want cheap chinese - this is my top recommendation for downtown. Flying Wedge Pizza is great value for fast-food. Try the Szechuan chicken pizza. Kintaro in the West End is excellent Japanese ramen, but there is usually a line.
