    fun hotel

Had a lovely time at the Gladstone Hotel on Queen St West. If you have stayed at the Fox in Copenhagen then you get the idea. Every room is designed by a different artist. The hotel is on the very funky Queen St West though it is a bit of a walk to get to the main shops and cafes (ok..it was only about 10 mins). Service was great and made a great change from staying at the big brand hotels.

Ki on Bay is fantastic Japanese ...

Innovative & modern Japanese menu + all the classics. The ambiance is just right inside or out, 2 raised dining rooms and lounge ... this is the most dynamic Sushi restaurant in Toronto imho.

    Best park IN THE UNIVERSE

I fell in love with Dufferin Grove Park - first as a mom.

Theere's a great combination of play spaces, with a -real- sand pit complete with big shovels, logs for digging over and under; a beautifully designed, wading pool and BEST OF ALL: books, paper, crayons, cheap ORGANIC snacks for the fam. Forgot your waterproof diapers - you can buy one, without having to pawn one of your kids!

Its a beautiful park, too, not huge but still really big, really nice tree coverage. And free wifi! Overall a really great place to zone out, with or without kids.

The various hoods are best to explore for visitors, avoid Yonge Street!

West Queen West - the further west from Spadina (and Bathurst) the better www.westqueenwest.ca loads of galleries, bars, restos, mix of young coolsters and the mentally unbalanced.

Dundas West/Ossington - this quicky developing strip is an up and coming area Foxley on Ossington and Saving Grace on Dundas are the food highlights. Ministy of the Interior - coolest design store in that area

Kensington Market - still rundown. still hotspot for alternative culture. lots of fruit, coffee, nut and weed dealers Supermarket - killer food (best in that hood) Function 13 - nice design store

Queen Street East - Riverside, Leslieville - up and coming and fast.. Red Rocket Coffee - best coffee on the strip, lots of alternative design stores and a few galleries Pulp Kitchen - good veg cafe Machine Age Modern - my fav store there

Check out my blog Wish You Were Here for my Top 25 in Toronto. It really depends on your interests but my "musts" are strolling along in the different neighbourhoods such as Kensington Market, The Danforth and Queen West, especially on a sunny day. I think that's the best way to explore it. My blog www.nataliectaylor.blogspot.com

Toronto Island is well worth a visit. Take the ferry from the foot of Yonge Street. When you arrive, walk to the south side and follow the walk along the lake. Even though you're only half a kilometre from the banking towers, you'll feel like you're in a pleasant country park. Really nice.

The Beach on Queen West is fantastic! The strip on Queen St is like a small beach town, and the boardwalk on the lake is beautiful, definitely worth the streetcar trip.

An amazing place to shop, eat, and relax. Full of free spirits, especially during the summer months. There are endless things to do here! Also from May-October, every last Sunday of the month there are 'Pedestrian Sundays, where they shut the streets down to cars. It's a pedestrian fest!

Great place to spend an afternoon. I especially love the upper atrium on a rainy day.

There is some great modern art here but don't miss the Thompson gallery's Michaelangelo sketches or the Rubens masterpiece.
