Keith Costello replied over 3 years agoJohns Prime Rib & Steak House: Best prime rib in town
Downright succulent prime rib meal, made from Canadian cattle raised less than 100 miles away. They do a great chocolate dessert w/Saskatoon berry topping that is rich and delicious. Lobster bisque is quite good, too. Wine list is ok but a little pricey...though not really above the norm in SK. Conveniently located downtown just up the road from the Bess (and the Sheraton), this place is worth checking out.
Price is pretty reasonable for non-chain steakhouse in a prime location--no pun intended--but perhaps on the upper end of what Saskatoon has to offer.

A bit pricey for what is it, you won't find a better high-end steakhouse in Saskatoon. Wine list is impeccably diverse and quite good. Located in the heart of downtown inside the Sheraton, across from the Bess.

Keith Costello replied over 3 years agoThe Berry Barn: a majestic view
The Berry Barn is situated in the middle of a Saskatoon Berry Farm that overlooks the Saskatchewan River several miles outside of Saskatoon. Not that Saskatoon is exactly Metropolis, but being situated out of town creates a unique dining environment with a majestic view of the river. As for the fare, the place is frankly too far to drive to get borst and perogies, but the "homemade" Saskatoon berry pie is to die for--and worth the trip. The price is also quite modest.

Keith Costello replied over 3 years agoSpadina Freehouse: chill bar/restaurant
Chill place by the river with outdoor patio in summer. The Freehouse has a vibrant hip atmosphere and eclectic patronage, with live music several nights per week. There's a fairly broad selection of beer on tap, as well as a well-stocked bar. As for the menu, it's not only acceptably Bohemian, but also decently priced. The Freehouse also happens to be one of a handful of places where the kitchen is open past 10 (11:30-12am). The staff is very friendly and cool, too.
Definitely check this place out if you get the chance. The miso glazed salmon, the pulled pork sandwich, and jerk chicken skewers are all highly recommended.
