It's home to the Mayfair Lawn Bowling Club but it's real charm is it's shape and how it is landscaped.

J.H. Holmes came to Saskatoon in 1904 and eventually teamed up with John Ashworth in the real estate business. They put down a five hundred dollar down-payment on a quarter section of land between Idylwyld and Avenue H from 22nd to 29th Streets. After subdividing the quarter they sold it.

At a time when city planning was unknown and “green space” was the farthest thing from the minds of real estate developers, Ashworth and Holmes donated 10 acres of land in their new subdivision to be used as a public park. This well designed park is one of the oldest in the city and contains many facilities including the Mayfair Lawn Bowling Club.

Ashworth and Holmes also donated land for the Christ Church Anglican church on 28th St. West, and for Prince of Wales School, which once stood where Mayfair Pool is now.
