    Best Gatineau food

For a wonderful casual evening out in the Gatineau try Chez Eric in Wakefield. The owner and chef is actually named Che (Chartrand - for reference, he worked at Bekta - also a great restaurant in Ottawa)). Don't forget to ask him how his baby is doing. Food is absolutely delightful and far better than the simple quaint surroundings would suggest. Price is very reasonable. 819-459-3747 (they take reservations). It about a 20 min drive from downtown.

Small bites, all paired with wine... amazing food.. great wine by the glass (or even 1/2 glass) paired with each dish. try the Digby Scallops if they have them... or the Chocolate Pot de Creme

Creative Italian, great service, good wines. Its only a small place, and an even smaller patio, so call ahead for the best tables.

Small (but filling) bites and wine with creative flights that pair well with the 3 or 4 course table d'hote nightly.

Manager and staff are amazing, and the chef uses local and in-season ingredients. The desserts may be tempting, but the cheese platter is pure gold.

They are not kidding when they say the Jambalaya is spicy... you have been warned! (I loved it)

Ottawa has a lot of good options. At the mid to high end, you might try Beckta, Atelier, Play, Fraser Cafe, Whalesbone, Wellington Gastropub and Murray Street.
