Big Hotel, Indoor pool but very tiny, cramped gym. For the size of the hotel, a much larger fitness facility is needed.

Go to Chez Claudette for the best poutine in Montréal. Open all night on Fridays and Saturdays, and so many options... highlights include the Boeuf Bourgingnon poutine, the pea and sausage poutine, and the smoked meat poutine. Enjoy!

Great spot for a small, fancy bite and homebrews. Gets a bit rowdy after 11pm. Try the Velvet Snakebite (cider, beer and cassis) or split a bottle of Québec ice cider among friends.

Spirite Lounge is a unique experience. The owner/cook/waiter is a real character, and seems to live behind one of the many curtained rooms in this house/restaurant with an opium den feel. He cooks one meal every day, and that is what you are having. Be warned that he can be as salty as his food, especially if you don't clear your plate. The meals are vegan and delicious. Note also that he only takes cash. If you play by his rules, you will have a great time and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime meal.

One of the great things about the city is that Tourisme Montréal has hired five 'insiders' to dish the scoop on what is happening.

They cover five topics: Food, Nightlife, Arts & Culture, Gay Life and Girls' Getaway.

    You can find them here:

Le Commensal is a great vegetarian pay-by-weight buffet. With distinct labelling on all dishes [vegan, contains milk, contains eggs, gluten free] it's a sweet spot just off St-Catherines. Huge salad bar is sure to please. Can be pricey if you're looking for a substantial meal but worth the buck.

Myriad is probably the best place to taste the coffee like 49 th parallel in Montreal. It's a place for passionate people about coffee. It's a place like Stumptown or Grumpy in NYC. It's little but cool place around Concordia University.

Funky and cosy live theatre. Seems to have everything. Saw some hilarious improvisation here, a groovy art show and a rock band!

I plan to stay here. Apparently it is "swank" and has a hot nightclub on the ground floor with lots of beautiful people smiling in it:)

I ate three times in this place and never be happy. They cook only one meal and are not able to serve it perfectly. Avoid it.

Best place to go for wood oven pizzas! It's really packed for lunch in which case you'll have to come early, but I go there for supper mostly (after a raid at the bookstore Indigo not far from there) when it's much more relaxed. It's been one of our sweet spots for almost 10 years now. The pizza menu is an embarras du choix, and the salads are humongous. Really a place not to miss!
