    Laika

The canonical geek hangout of Montréal. A great place to grab a coffee, get some work done, and bump into the local technorati.

    Patati Patata

I love this place, it only has about 12 seats, and every time I go, I always wait at least 15 minutes to have a seat, but its worth it. I've had the poutine and the tiny burgers and the borscht, all excellent AND cheap! They chop stuff right in front of you and are super friendly.

Cute little vegetarian restaurant in Little Burgundy / St-Henri. Delicious food at good prices, in beautiful new location - very warm yet stylish digs, great laid-back/loungy music: perfect for a date.

    Au Pied de Cochon

An awesome local restaurant with a focus on serving the freshest seafood available and using all parts of the animal ("nose to tail"). The restaurant is fairly small so I would recommend making reservations in advance. We went on a Tuesday night and the place was still packed at 10:30. Also, it's located in a cute neighborhood so an after dinner stroll would be a great end to the evening.

Terrific place to try something new. I highly recommend this restaurant. We tried the tasting menu and it was fantastic. The price is a little on the pricy side but it was definitely worth it.

Depends on budget. High end: Club Chasse et Peche, Au Pied de Cochon, and DNA. DNA serves all wine at 50% off before 7. It's one of the best deals in the city. If not the world.

Love this place! Relax and warming. You can go alone with a good book, for a date or with a friend. Try the cheese cake, delicious! There is a second part of the tea house where you can buy teas, tea supplies and more.
