Colin Ashe replied over 3 years agoI'd recommend staying anywhere in the Rio Vermelho area; it's fun, way less ridiculously touristy than the Pelourinho and Barra, and there is just miles of wonderful beach and great sushi places fronting the same.

Jukka Hentila replied over 3 years agoRio Vermelho is good if you like beaches and bus away from Pelourinho, but Pelourinho or next bairro Santo Antonio and you are walk away from all happenings (exept bigger concerts, then you need always a taxi). To choose Barra or Porto da Barra you have beaches and some happenings too and that is close to Pelourinho.

Jukka Hentila replied over 2 years agoApartamentos Tamboleiro. Apartments next to Pelourinho at Ladeiras do Carmo. You will wake up with the sound of drums (I loved it) and will be in the middle of happenings.

Juha Paltila replied over 2 years ago... Rio Vermelho is defetly the coolest place in Salvador. Pelourinho is too touristic , but for sure once in a while its good to drop by to see some shows, even the best shows are not in Pelourinho. Best shows you will find from Rio Vermelho, Teatro Castro Alves, some concert halls in Orla and Paralela... its good to keep on reading A Tarde or Correio da Bahia where you find more information fo daily shows.

Lisa Moretti replied over 2 years agoThe best place to stay in Salvador is the area between Pelourinho and Rio Vernelho, including Barra and Ondina. The most interesting attractions and the best restaurants and nightlife are in situated in that area. In the webiste www.salvador-bahia.tur.br there are a lot of good hotel options, with pictures, informations and it's possible to do online reservations.
