Vodenitzata (Watermill) is one of the best Bulgarian restaurants nearby Sofia. It is situated on the slopes of Vitosha mountain, in the village of Dragalevtsi. It takes about 30 min by taxi from Sofia center, but certainly is worth it. Every single taxi driver knows this restaurant by name, so getting there is not a proble. Excellent place, excellent food, nice interior and every evening there is some program (mainly Bulgarian dances). Please note, that table reservation is a must!

Fantastic small, but very cozy Italian restaurant in the center of Sofia. Visiting here is always some kind of an adventure if you don´t speak either Bulgarian or Italian as they do not speak English, but anyway I have always managed to get there fantastic tasty food with very reasonable price. And no matter there is language barrier, the service is very good.

Nice restaurant offering not only Bulgarian food, but also nice, fresh Mediterranean fish. BBQ is their specialty, even their fireplace made of stone weights 15 tons.

It is situated in Lozenets area, some 4-5 km out of Sofia city center.

One of my favorite restaurants in Sofia.

Flanagans Irish Pub is situated in downstairs of Hotel Radisson BLU in Sofia and it is the meeting point of expats living in Sofia. Menu is not much to talk about, but drinks and atmosphere are nice. In the summer time they have nice and very popular terrace.

This bar is using the salon of the house of the famous Bulgarian poetess of the beginning of the 20th century Mara Belcheva. Best Crème Brûlée you can have in Sofia.

One of the best restaurants in Sofia I've ever been and I've been in many. Very high service level, something what you haven't get used to in Sofia and in Bulgaria in general. Quality food and good wine selection. And what's best, prices are not top end (means it is expensive restaurant, but I've seen more higher prices in places, which are not in the same level of quality). Worth every stotinki. Recommended. Last but not least: they have very efficient air circulation in the restaurant which means that you do not have to suffer smoke caused by the smokers, which Bulgaria is full of.

Nice, cozy authentic Italian restaurant in the downstairs of Best Western City Hotel. Good menu, which includes not only Italian, but also some traditional Bulgarian food. Service is better than what you get normally in the restaurants in Sofia.

Excellent, though a bit expensive restaurant in Sofia city center. It used to be famous for its Russian menu, but nowadays menu is mainly Italian. Anyhow food is great.

Another excellent Italian restaurant in Sofia. This one is situated in Lozenets, some 15-20 min taxi ride from the city center. Nice, authentic Italian atmosphere and excellent food and service. Also not rip-off by means of pricing. Highly recommended.

Great Coffe is easy to find in Sofia, but the atmosphere is rarely as calm as in Onda. Here you can also buy the book of the month (in Bulgarian) and Putumayo world music CD's
