Annie's place down Louisastraat is only minutes walk from the seafront but in a completely different category to the multitude of restaurants on the promenade. Good home cooking (Belgian style) with some of the freshest fish I've ever tasted. The sole I had was straight off the boat only hours before - Ostende still has a fishing fleet. The decor is entertaining too - a large collection of antique souvenirs of Ostende and the Flemish coast cover the walls. If you are eating alone or have run out of conversation, you won't be bored. Run by Annie and her partner, you get a warm personal welcome, good food and great service. Try it !

Beluga : Restaurant Brasserie Thee Room The Beluga restaurant on the Ostende promenade is a relative newcomer compared to some of the other dozens of places to eat there. Like the other restaurants on the promenade, they have a great sea view and a perfect terrace for people-watching but unlike some of the others, they are outstanding on food, presentation and service. Not the cheapest but one of the best especially for fresh fish and sea food. Try the Belgian speciality eel with "green sauce" or the classic moules et frites. And I personally recommend the wonderfully presented Moroccon fresh mint tea at the end of your meal.
