Mi Tango, Rue de Spa 31, 1000 Bruxelles An intimate candlelit restaurant with such great South-american and Italian dishes that you'll be surprised they cost so little. You'll want to come back for their Argentinean steak and very tasty pastas. Make reservations as the place is very tiny and busy with regulars.

La quincalleirie (http://www.quincaillerie.be/) is very nice place to have dinner in Chatelain area. 2 stages restaurant within an old style "quincaillerie" with hundreds of little drawers on the walls. worth of a visit!

Obvious choice would be to sample a "real" Belgian restaurant on your first night. Unfortunately, there's a big chance that'll you end up in a downtown tourist trap if you fail to do some proper research. My four winners from no-frills to sophisticated would be : 't Kelderke (http://www2.resto.be/kelderke/) a reliable cheapie right on the Grand Place, Aux armes de Bruxelles (http://www.auxarmesdebruxelles.be/) a moderate priced institution in an otherwise touristy street, 't Spinnekopke (http://www.spinnekopke.be) with a nice selection of authentic beers and finally Brasserie La Paix (http://www.lapaix1892.com), a meat-lovers paradise which recently earned a Michelin star, meaning you'll need to reserve your table well in advance.
