Flea market

Have a wander in the old Marolles district below the Palais de Justice and go to the daily Flea Market in Place Jeu du Paume. You will need to get there very early to beat the dealers though. Usually closes up by 2pm. Great on Sundays. Lots of second hand shops and Belgian bars /restaurants with character(s) nearby.

the aquarium

The Aquariology centre is a pedagogic public aquarium exhibiting animals essentially originating from cultures, small threatened species or even species which disappeared from their natural habitat, in 47 aqua(terra)ria and 1 reservoir: a trip through the world of fishes, amphibians and invertebrates. A permanent exposition to give visitors the chance to observe and learn, to make them respect the environment. The exposition wants to show visitors that they can help nature through simple and daily gestures. The Aquariology Centre is officially recognized as a zoological park.

Fab Art Deco house

A must see hidden gem is the Van Buuren Musée near Churchill, south of Ixelles. Easy to get to on various trams and has a cosy garden too.
