Antwerp's best food market is every Saturday on the Theaterplein (behind the Stadsschouwburg), with local and ethnic foods, some of it prepared on the spot: fresh oysters with wine, vietnamese spring rolls, moroccan tea and much more.

Close to the Saturday market is the main shopping avenue Meir. Recently a new shopping mall opened there: the Stadsfeestzaal. It's a spectacular setting, recently renovated combining the original, 100 year old neoclassical building and decoration plans with contemporary design. Also worth checking out if you're not into shopping, the bars for instance are truly spectacular.
