A nice quite and simple Thai restaurant. Liked the food. BYO wine. Many options for all. For veggies, Red Curry, Green Curry, Steamed rice and Spring rolls would be perfect.

Matt Jones replied over 5 years agoGet the Prawns wrapped in Betel Leaf at Thai Nesia, Oxford St.
A great little Thai Restaurant on Oxford St., quite near Taylor Sq. It's BYO, with a bottle shop two doors down which couldn't be more convenient. Concentrate on the starters ('Entrees' in Aussie...) which are fantastic. The Prawns wrapped in Betel Leaf with flying-fish roe blew me away.

cafe giulia on abercrombie st off broadway is a great inner city secret. great breakfasts, really relaxed courtyard. talk to the staff about what's happening in the arts scene. they'll have a pretty good idea coz they all reside in it.
The Rose, off cleveland st is a nice little pub to have your little creatures on tap.
PELOTON is an art gallery off meagher st, just behind cafe giulia. one of the last surviving art spaces.
great coffee can be found at Toby's, off city road. if you dont mind the noise.
there's a great little salvos if you're into your opt shopping. it's on abercrombie st, but on the redfern end.
Carriage works has been open for a while, that's also on the redfern end. that's a huge performance space.

Gemma Pitcher replied over 5 years agoPrasit's Thai restaurant
Sick of waiting for Spice I Am to have your table? Or don't feel like sitting on a milk crate on the pavement tonight? Try Prasit's at 395 Crown street, Surry Hills. The food is just as good, the prices are comparable and the sitting area upstairs is much more civilised. They also do takeaway and unlike Spice I Am, they're open on Monday nights.

Kelly Tall replied over 5 years agoCampos coffee - best coffee in Sydney?
I think so and am happy to debate, but this place is great to visit after a trip overseas, as i reckon it is not only the best in Sydney, but potentially the best in the world!!

Damon Garrett replied over 5 years agoBreakfast at Bills
A quintessentially Sydney experience for locals and long-time visitors alike. The communal table is back and the menu has come down from off the wall, but the original Bills remains true to form and still does the best breakfast in town. The eggs and corn fritters are still worthy of their "classic" status on the menu.

Jono Haysom replied over 5 years agoSundowner @ Opera Bar
If your down in Summer (or anytime really) for the best vantage point of the harbour and probably the BEST location for a drink as the sun sets.. you have to have a drink at Opera Bar.

Peter Cooper replied over 4 years agoGood coffee in Sydney
Sydney has lots of coffee joints, but very few of them are very good. Before I found this place, I just used to go cold turkey in Sydney when visiting Australia.
Café Two Ants down in Elizabeth Bay is a real find. Good coffee (no really, I mean as good as that other city further south), personal service (they don't have many tables and therefore have to notice you!) and really really great breakfasts.
Most highly recommended.

Michelle Simpson replied over 4 years agoFor the avid carnivore - Churrasco in Coogee
My friends took me to this restaurant on Coogee Bay Road in Coogee. Brazilian barbeque where you pay set price and simply keep eating the meat as they come round with it until you are full. Outstanding!

Rupert Whicker replied over 4 years agoOk slightly expensive, but great steak place, (possibly the best I've ever tasted) is in Ivy, that slightly w*nky establishment on George St.. called Mad Cow, go upstairs, turn left and head straight ahead, towards the yellow lights. $50 per steak and upwards needs you might need to save for it, but it's worth it.. and the service is fantastic.

Kelly Tall replied over 4 years agoSpice Temple is Neil Perry's new venture and it is the BEST CHINESE IN SYDNEY. The banquet ($69 a head I think) is the best value in town. Real Schezuan cooking, at it's finest. Service was also very smooth, and it's a nice basement atmosphere. Cannot wait to go back again

Jin Lim replied over 3 years agoMAMAK on Goulburn St in Sydney.
BEST MALAYSIAN food you can get in town with reasonable prices even for Sydney. There is often a queue for the 5:30pm start but it goes till late (2am) on Fri and Sat nites. Check it out worth going to. Best to order Roti (starts at $5) and Nasi Lemak (starts at $7.50) with one of its curries (extra $3). Only acceptable dessert is Ais Kacang ($5) and the drink to go for is Teh Tarik ($3.50 - sweet - condensed milk used).
