quite a nice short st to wander around. i'm guessing it used to be really cool in a grassrooty way, but of course the hipsters have invaded, when i was there it was still pretty decent. worth a walk. head down chapel in the st kilda direction and you'll get a better sense of the neighbourhoods i reckon. i saw the really nice vintage furniture store that had heaps of wooden type and old racing result board leftovers

Katherine Doube replied over 4 years agopossibly the prettiest street in the CBD- Degraves St
Coffee, bagel and fruit crush at Jungle cafe, pancakes next door, Hell's Kitchen and some cute boutiques. Can actually walk through to collins street, cross the road and head through the lovely Royal Arcade for further alleyway adventures.

William Reeve replied over 3 years agoGold Class cinema is an Australian must for movie-lovers
Watching films has never been so much fun as at a 'Gold Class' cinema. Even London's upmarket cinemas (Electric, Everyman etc) don't compare to the business-class-style seats, 3 course meals with each course (or coffee, or whatever) delivered at the exact time you ask for ('just after the opening credits, please') and general space/comfiness. Combine with dinner for the best experience.

Jonathan Poh replied over 3 years agoGreville St is great if you want something a little offbeat and not the usual stuff you'd find in the shopping centers or the designer-label end of Chapel St. Brunswick St, Fitzroy and Smith St, Collingwood are great too for something a bit more grungy and has a Bohemian feel to them.
In the CBD/downtown area there are lots of interesting laneways with cute cafes and funky bars, and sometimes you might even stumble across some random artwork at the end of an alley or floating above your head!
