if you're on a budget, definitely govinda's in the city or west end (the latter is cheaper). there are cheap but tasty eateries around west end, especially vietnamese restaurants on hardgrave road and the cheap and popular indian kitchen on vulture street.

Cirque in New Farm has delicious cafe food at reasonable prices. 618 Brunswick Street, New Farm. (07) 3254 0479

Jamie's in New Farm/The Valley is really a coffee bar but also does great toasted sandwiches. Cnr James and Robertson Streets. (07) 3257 1010

King Ahrims on Vulture street West End will feed you for $8 or a quick snack of a falafel roll for $3.50 is surprisingly satisfying if your on a budget.

There are plenty of good Sushi places in the inner city, just follow all the office workers. Usually a large roll will set you back just over $2. 2 of those would fill me up, I would have to be Really hungry to eat 3.
