Vienna - I'd suggest you see the incinerator in the 9th district, beautiful building. And dont miss out a visit to the Augarten - 2nd district.

The Christkindlmarkt is fine, but is only open until Christmas, for the rest of the Winter you might consider spending some hours in a Cafe like the Prückel, http://www.prueckel.at/ , you can read various magazines there are have never-ending conversations on anything (that is, assuming you are not American and do not attempt to tell Austrians how to run their lives)

This tip has the address "Stubenring 24, 1010 Wien, Austria"

Avoid the Christkindlmarkt in front of Rathaus (Town Hall) - there are much nicer ones on Karlsplatz, opposite of Heldenplatz (between the two Museums) and in front of Schönbrunn.

The one on Karlsplatz is especially nice because they sell tasteful artwork instead of the usual crap. Oh, and, of course, you can get Punsch, Glühmost and Glühwein there as well!

This retro alley is tucked away in the famous Vienna Woods and offers sporty recreational activity with a heavy dose of country authenticity. The result is a surreal Twin Peaks experience; the wooden fully automated (!) alley is one of just five unique models in the country, originally built in the ‘60s and carefully restored by its new owner.

Villa Aurora, built in 1785, is a quirky house perched on a hill on the edge of the Viennese woods. Spend a few relaxed hours in this nostalgic spot with a park-like garden and a dining terrace with panoramic views. One could imagine fin-de-siècle bourgeois families making this day trip.

This huge park offers different walking paths for every mood—meet Bambi at the “Wienblick,” a meadow that overlooks a panoramic view of Vienna or find magic mushrooms at the “Hubertuswarte,” a legendary hang-out spot which is surrounded by the abundant foliage of the Wienerwald forrest. At “Hermesvilla” you can relax in a historic ambience walking through the residential summer-castle, while perusing the changing seasonal exhibitions.

A highlight of your journey back to Roman times is a visit to the Museum Carnuntinum in Bad Deutsch-Altenburg. Opened by Emperor Franz Joseph in 1904, the “treasure house” of the Archaeological Park Carnuntum was built by architect Friedrich Ohmann in the style of a Roman country house.

In summer, go visit Museumsquartier (MQ, subway U3 or U2 will bring you there) to hang out, have a beer, dip your feet in the water ... simply have a good time
