Nicholas Clark replied over 5 years agoCAT offers city centre check-in
The City Airport Train offers check in in the city centre, which is particularly useful if you have hold baggage you want to drop off. Minimum check in is 75 minutes, maximum is 24 hours [not confirmed on the website]. In theory you are supposed to present a CAT ticket to qualify, but they haven't been checking recently.

If you have the opportunity, drop by St. Peter's Church, a few blocks south of St. Stephen's. An amazing barouque church.
If you have an afternoon, head out to Schonbrunn (the Hapsburg Summer Palace).

kathi Peter replied over 4 years agoPublic Transport / Airport > City
Public transport in Vienna is quick, clean and on-time.
from Airport > City it's best to take S7 "Schnellbahn" train (white S on blue background) rather than the over-priced CAT train. S7 takes 20 min for EUR 3.40, CAT 15min for EUR 8.
For quick connections throughout the city check the website http://www.wienerlinien.at/wl/ep/home.do?tabId=0

Irene Polenz replied over 4 years agoWiener Schnitzel
Once you are in Vienna and you're not a vegetarian make sure to visit Figlmüller and have one of their giant Wiener Schnitzel. Order a Erdäpfel Vogerlsalat as sidedish and enjoy! If you're not that hungry a smal (kids) Schnitzel will definitely do it, too! There are two branches very close by, the one is even al little more touristy than the other one, but the Schnitzel is extraordinary good, no wether iwhich branch you choose!
