Mirko Tobias Schaefer replied over 3 years agoWerkzeug H
Former factory turned into a dynamic and vivid café. Great hang out and lots of space for laptop workaholics. The Werkzeug H also hosts the Viennese Bar Camp sessions, demoscene screenings and other digital culture related stuff.

Rija Ménagé replied over 3 years agoStiegl Ambulanz: Nice brewerie/restaurant in Vienna's Student Area
This restaurant has a nice setting, a modern moody/trendy atmosphere that's not expected in a place with an in-house brewery. The food looks good and tastes good. The service is agreeable but the waitresses do not speak English (when I was there anyway) It is located within a university campus.

"lutz - die bar" is a great lounge to spend a relatively quiet evening, mingling away with good cocktails in downtown Vienna.

Mihnea Miculescu replied over 3 years agoStyle with a view
The DO & CO in Stephansplatz has two personalities - earlier in the day, it's a great restaurant - but on evenings, it makes a hell of a lounge, with an exceptional view of St. Stephen's Cathedral.

Olaf Koens replied over 3 years agoNice coffee-lounge with free wifi
'Coffee Day' is a nice lounge-bar in a great atmosphere. They've got free wifi, good espresso's (two euro's) and wonderful couches to relax away right in the city center. Very spacious and modern. In summer they open all the doors, letter a cool breeze flow trough the cafe.

Cliff Stuehmer Jr replied over 3 years agoCafé Leopold - not your grandmother's museum cafeteria!
The Café Leopold in the Leopold Museum is a pretty hip joint — much hipper than you’d expect for a museum cafeteria. Sure the requisite retirees were there, but the staff, muzak, and menu selections were very groovy. We’d go back there for a meal independent of the museum visit any time. I don't remember if Frommer's recommended it to us, or if we stumbled upon it.

kathi Peter replied over 3 years agotruly Viennese: Heurige / Wine Taverns
Heurige wine taverns are an essential part in traditional Viennese social life, serving fine Viennese wines and food. there are several areas in the outskirts of Vienna, some more touristy than others, but you can always find places which stayed original. for orientation go here: http://www.wien.info/article.asp?IDArticle=17546

Dirk Zemisch replied over 3 years agoGood japanese food + reasonable priced = YUME
One of the most amazing japanese restaurants in Europe I found is the YUME in Vienna.
Freshness and taste are great, combined with a fit and proper interior, crowned by a pleasant and competent team it leads to a nice evening every time you are hitting the place.
In the evening (every evening!) the YUME is well-filled, so a reservation could be helpfull.

Milton Micallef replied over 3 years agoPiaristenkeller
An excellent dining experience, out of this world. It's like stepping back in time, as the waiters wear traditional costumes, diners can wear historical hats from the hat museum, and music is provided in the form of a lyre. The menu is a feature in itself, and the dishes are wonderful.

Herbie replied over 2 years agoVienna - there is hardly a better place for "eating out" than Vienna. you find all kinds of restaurants: from super-luxury to real budget-"beisl". if you like luxury and spending money go to: Sacher or Korso or Plachutta if you want good food for little money go to: almost every small restaurant off the beaten tracks offers decent austrian food. some examples would be: 2 lieserln - in the seventh district, near Neubaugasse zur hermi - twentieth district, wallensteinplatz

There's more seating in the basement (it goes down two levels). In the far back there's a place you can sit on pillows and eat.
